The festive season began with a calm and contemplative event on Monday, 1st December. The 'Hush B4 The Rush' service offered a peaceful space for quiet reflection before the busy weeks ahead. This service allowed attendees to pause, meditate, and prepare their hearts for the celebrations to come. The serene atmosphere provided a welcome contrast to the usual hustle of December, encouraging mindfulness and spiritual renewal.


Christmas Fair with Community Spirit



On Sunday 29th November, Bretherton Congregational Church opened its doors for a lively Christmas Fair. The event was a wonderful mix of fun and fellowship, featuring:


  • Lunch with Elsa, delighting children and adults alike

  • A raffle and tombola with exciting prizes

  • Various stalls offering handmade crafts and festive treats

  • Hot lunches and desserts that brought warmth and comfort

Carol Service with Ecleston Brass Band


The evening of Sunday, 14th December, was marked by the much-anticipated Carol Service. The congregation gathered to sing traditional carols and hear the Christmas story, accompanied by the beautiful music of the Ecleston Brass Band. Their rich, melodic sound added a special dimension to the service, lifting spirits and inspiring worship.


In a generous act of kindness, attendees brought gifts for Leyland Women’s and Children’s Refuge. This collection demonstrated the church’s commitment to supporting those in need during the holiday season, embodying the true meaning of Christmas.



Pop Up Nativity Brings the Story to Life


On Sunday, 21st December, the Sunday service featured a unique 'Pop Up Nativity' created by the Bible Society. This interactive presentation involved the congregation and children dressing as nativity characters, bringing the Christmas story to life in a fresh and engaging way.


The Pop Up Nativity encouraged participation from all ages, making the story of Jesus’ birth accessible and memorable. It was a joyful occasion that combined worship with creativity, reminding everyone of the humble beginnings of the Christmas celebration.
